Arjun Kumar Sah: Still Stateless

Arjun Kumar Sah,27 from Matihani Village Development Committee, Mahottari, son of Arun Sah and Mithila Sah. His mother is a citizen by descent who works as a nursing midwife and his father was born in India but has been living in Mahottari for the last 37 years.
Arjun has filed a writ of mandamus in the Supreme Court seeking Nepali nationality based on his mother's name because he is a citizen by descent. He filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court on January 23, 2012 seeking citizenship. He has his Voter ID and casted vote in the election held in 2013. He said " If I am denied a Nepali Citizenship, I will be stateless all my life, I have argued in my petition. I cited Sabina Damai's case where the Supreme Court had directed the concerned authority to grant her citizenship based on her mother's name. Being deprived of citizenship status has violated my constitutional rights, such as equal access to law and right to live a dignified life." Arjun has circulated his citizenship's problem to all  his friends, relatives and the Human Rights activists. Almost all his friends and relatives have raised a big question on the reliability of the Judicial System of the nation. They say, how the supreme court  can deliver verdict to grant citizenship  only Sabina Damai and not to Arjun although he has the same problem. They claim the Judiciary System has been occupied with jaundiced eyes.
