छाता मेला २०७१ मा आमसभा गरेर भाडाको स १ च १५४ नं.को गाडीबाट फर्किरहेको अवस्थामा रंगेली नगरपालिका वडा ३, आमाटोलबाट साँझको ७ः१५ बजे डा. सी.के. राउतलाई प्रहरीले पक्राउ गरेको घटना प्रति तराई मानव अधिकार रक्षक संजाल (थर्ड एलायन्स)को ध्यानाकर्षण भएको छ । निज राउतलाई  २ वटा प्रहरी गाडीबाट आएका लगभग १२ जना प्रहरी पक्राउ गरेका हुन । यसरी बिना कारण आमसभाबाट फर्किरहेको अवस्थामा प्रहरीले पक्राउ गरेका गैरकानुनी कार्यको हामी घोर भ्रत्सना गर्दछौं । नेपालको संविधानले प्रदत्त गरेको वाक स्वतन्त्रता प्रयोग गरेकै कारण कसै पनि पक्राउ गर्न मिल्दैन । स्वतन्त्र पुर्वक बाँच्न पाउने हकको संरक्षण गर्नु राज्यको दायित्व रहेको छ । अतः निज डा. सी. के. राउतलाई तत्काल रिहा गर्न थर्ड एलायन्सले हार्दिक अपिल समेत गर्दछ ।

थर्ड एलायन्स

Terai Human Rights Defenders Alliance (THRD Alliance) is seriously concerned about the arrest of Dr CK Raut who was picked up by Nepal Police while he was returning from a mass meeting held today at Chhata Fair in Rangeli, Morang. Raut who was returning on a rented car (Sa 1 Cha, 154) was arrested by 12 police personnel who had come in two vehicles. We strongly condemn the illegal arrest of Raut who was returning home after taking part in a mass meeting. All citizens have the right to exercise their freedom of speech and nobody should be arrested just because he/she exercises his/her freedom of speech guaranteed in the country’s constitution. It is the state’s duty to protect individual’s right to live. Therefore THRD Alliance urges the authorities concerned to immediately release Raut from the custody.
